Etamic Air Mandrels

Non Contact Bore Measurement

Etamic air mandrels have open air jets and are used for the measurement of through and blind bores. The units range from 3 to 150 mm diameter and are made to customer application requirements. Air mandrels can be supplied with the option of three different material treatments depending on application requirements. These options are as follows:

  • Non treated steel - ideal for pre-production components (less than 100 items). These gauges are very cost effect with short delivery times
  • Hardened Tool steel - suitable for measuring up to 100,000 parts
  • TICN treatment - suitable for up to1,000,000 parts (TICN treated gauges provide very good service life, and are particularly suited to automated applications).

The air mandrels can be fixed or mobile, and have a large introduction clearance. They can be used with all Etamic measuring instruments either directly on a VDU, or indirectly via a pneumatic transducer.

The benefit of Etamic air mandrels is that several hundred thousand components can be measured accurately with no change in measurement quality.

Etamic air mandrels come in two basic types for through and blind bore measurement. Pneumatic measurement is used up to R = 6μm. For measurements beyond this value, please contact measureshop™.

Unless otherwise specified, Etamic air mandrels are built with two open air jets 180° apart.
