Carl Zeiss CMM measurement and Metrotom Scanning

A comprehensive contract measurement service is offered which includes both conventional CMM work and the latest Metrotom CT scanning. Whilst specialising in high end, complex application tasks, the capacity is also available to undertake more general, high volume work when required.

CT Scanning

Metrotom represents a new level of industrial CT scanning and measurement technology, designed specifically to perform comprehensive quality assurance tasks. CT scanning goes beyond pure visual inspection and offers the possibility of rapid CAD comparison and also measuring the internal and external geometries of highly complex components. High accuracy is achieved using technology from Carl Zeiss high-performance CMMs. The result is a non-destructive measurement system that is accurate to within 11μm for typical plastic parts. This is a rapidly expanding technology and there are currently many UK companies that have a scanning need, but don’t own a dedicated CT scanner. For these companies, their components can be scanned on a sub-contract basis, making CT scanning inspection accessible and affordable. In the precision plastics industry, passing off a mould can often take many weeks and involve several costly and time-consuming stages. CT scanning can reduce this time to just a few days. CT scanning is a fast, accurate technology for internal and external analysis of components and assemblies, making otherwise difficult to detect defects very visible.
