On and Off-site Training Support

In order for customers to gain maximum benefit from their investment, Metrology Direct provides a comprehensive installation and training facility.

Operator Training

Many systems supplied by Metrology Direct are PC controlled. Most have Windows operating systems and are very user friendly with shortcut programming wizards. In order for customers to make the best use of their new equipment, a comprehensive training program is often included with the equipment package. Basic systems may require just a couple of hours training, whereas complex installations with CNC control may need 2-3 days. The amount of training will depend on the equipment supplied, the customer expectations and the skill level of the trainees. Training needs are determined in advance and will be tailored to suit individual customers. Trainees who successfully attend a Metrology Direct training course are issued with certificates detailing the training completed. Metrology Direct views training as an ongoing need and many customers opt for refresher courses to be included in their annual service support contracts.

Metrology Training

In addition to operator training, Metrology Direct also offers a range of metrology training courses. Building on many years experience in the industry, we have a resource pool that can provided tuition in a diverse selection of topics including surface roughness, form and roundness, air gauging, pre-process, in-process and post-process gauging. Courses can be held on customer sites or alternatively there is a fully functional training room at the Gloucester Technical Centre and Metrology Direct is always pleased to host trainee visits to this facility.

Group Training

Metrology Direct regularly runs group training courses on specific measurement equipment or software. Held in Gloucester, these are aimed to bring operators together from different companies on the same course, providing a cost effective alternative to ‘one to one’ tuition. Individual beginners, intermediate and advanced courses ensure trainees of similar levels are learning together.
